Selena Lott Named WBCA Regional Finalist

The senior led the team in points, assists, steals and blocked shots
ATLANTA – Marquette University women's basketball senior guard Selena Lott has been named a regional finalist for the 2021 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-America Team, as announced by the organization on Wednesday.Â
One of 52 candidates receiving consideration for the honors this year, Lott led MU in scoring (14.7), assists (5.2), steals (2.1) and blocked shots (0.7) in 2020-21.
The Troy, N.Y., native followed up her 2019-20 Second Team All-BIG EAST accolades by garnering 2020-21 First Team All-BIG EAST honors while being named the conference co-defensive player of the year. She reached double-figures in scoring in 18 of 26 games this season, including seven 20-plus point performances. Lott tallied four double-doubles this season, including a 27-point, 11-assist effort at Villanova in which she became the 30th Golden Eagle in program history to pass 1,000-career points.
Defensively, Lott tallied multiple steals in 14 games this season and registered a blocked shot in 13 different games. She was often tasked with guarding the other team's best player and helped the Golden Eagles finish with the No. 2 scoring defense (61.7 ppg.)Â and field goal percentage defense (.394) in the BIG EAST.
Lott ranks No. 23 all-time at Marquette in scoring (1,195 points), No. 12 in 3-point field goals made (132), No. 10 in assists (383), No. 9 in steals (223) and No. 8 in blocks (81).
The 2021 WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches' All-America Team will be announced on Saturday, April 3. The selection committee will choose 10 players from the 52 regional finalists.
