Eichhorn claims BIG EAST Men's Golfer of the Week

Eichhorn earned the 10th top-five finish of his career at The Hootie at Bulls Bay
NEW YORK – Marquette University redshirt junior Hunter Eichhorn is the BIG EAST Conference Male Golfer of the Week, the league announced on Thursday.
Eichhorn tied for fifth at The Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate in Awendaw, South Carolina on March 28-30 with a 6-under par 210 (70-68-72). The Carney, Michigan native, who entered Tuesday's final round tied for second and just two strokes from the lead, recorded an even-par 72 in the event's final round.
Eichhorn dropped three strokes through his first 14 holes, but recorded three birdies on his final four to climb back up the leaderboard. He shot a 4-under 68 in Monday's second round and ended the week with three rounds of par-or-better, including a 2-under 70 in Sunday's first. It was the 10th top-five finish of his career.
He has now earned BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week seven times in his career.
The Golden Eagles begin play at the Calusa Cup on Easter Sunday at Calusa Pines Golf Club in Naples, Florida.

Hunter Eichhorn, Marquette, R-Jr. – Eichhorn tied for fifth place at The Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate in Awendaw, S.C. with a 6-under-par 210 (70-68-72). He shot a 4-under 68 in the second round and was at par or better in all three rounds. On the final day, he dropped three strokes through 14 holes, but rallied with three birdies on the final four holes. It is the 10th top five finish of his career. The 16-team field included No. 9 Auburn, No. 20 NC State and three other schools receiving votes in the national poll.

BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week
Angelica Kusnowo, St. John's, Fr. Kusnowo fired a one-under 215 to tie for second place at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate. After carding a 73 in each of the first two rounds, the freshman shot a 69 on the final day, which helped lift the Red Storm to the team title. Kusnowo's individual score was two strokes behind the winner. St. John's has won its last two events.Â

BIG EAST Men's Notes – The Lulu Invitational ended with a three-way tie for medalist honors among St. John's Alex Kyriacou and Villanova's Peter Weaver and Ambrose Abbracciamento. All three shot a 4-under 67. Kyriacou's score was a career best, which helped the Red Storm take the team title. Weaver led all players in the field with seven birdies. Abbracciamento, a graduate student, posted his eighth career top-10 finish and his first at Villanova…Seton Hall's Deven Ramachandran continued to be his team's leader this spring. He tied for ninth place among 55 golfers at the The Big Texan in Kerrville, Texas. Most recently, he tied for 36th place with an 8-over-par 224 (73-75-76) at the Craft Farms Intercollegiate. The Hall finished tied for fourth place at the The Big Texan and 12th at Craft Farms…DePaul won the Alabama A&M Classic by placing four golfers in the top 10 – Conor Glennon (217-2nd), Noah Kolar (220-4th), Perry Chong (223-T7th) and Artemiy Yalovenko (224-8th)…Creighton placed eighth in an 18-team field at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate in Springfield, Mo. Nate Vontz led the Bluejays with a 213 (70-75-68) while placing seventh…Connecticut finished 11th at the Furman Intercollegiate. Freshman Caleb Manuel was the top Husky at 216 (77-69-70). Xavier was 17th. The top Musketeer was Ben Pirro at 228 (+15).   Â

BIG EAST Women's Notes – Xavier won the Georgia State Invitational behind the strong play of junior Abby Kiefer and freshman Emma McMyler who tied for seventh place at 3-over-par 219. Graduate student Mikayla Fitzpatrick tied for ninth, one stroke behind her teammates at 220. The Musketeers took first place in the 16-team field with a score of 882 (+18)…Seton Hall also competed at the Georgia State Invitational and placed seventh. Freshman Ginevra Ricciardelli tied for 16th with an 8-over-par 224 (74-70-80)…St. John's graduate student Linda Wang tied for seventh with a 225 (+9) in helping the Red Storm capture team honors at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate…Butler has to update its records after Claire Edwards' performance at the Eastern Kentucky Colonel Classic. Her second-round 68 (-4) set the program's single-round record. For the 54-hole event, Edwards finished fourth overall with a 3-over-par 219. Additionally, the Bulldog team set a single-round record with a score of 287 (-1). Butler finished fifth in a 15-team field…Creighton's Claire Orcutt tied for 23rd place at the Diane Daugherty Invite in Kirkwood, Mo., against a field that included 16 teams and 90 golfers. The freshman shot a career-low 75 in the first round before back-to-back rounds of 80.        Â
