Leva Named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week

The senior capped off her career with 18 saves in two wins vs. Butler
NEW YORK – Marquette University senior goalie Sophia Leva was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Leva posted the BIG EAST's top save percentage and goals against average in a 2-0 weekend for the Golden Eagles. Against Butler, the senior goalkeeper surrendered just 7.22 goals per game while saving .600 of the shots faced. She registered 18 saves on the weekend, including 10 in Sunday's season finale win over the Bulldogs. The wins pushed Marquette into a tie for fourth place in the BIG EAST standings.
This was Leva's first ever BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week award and her fourth weekly honor of the season.
Redshirt senior Megan Menzuber was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll. She capped off her career with 10 points off seven goals and three assists in a 2-0 weekend against Butler while adding four ground balls and two caused turnovers. This was Menzuber's second weekly award of the season and third career weekly honor.
Marquette (7-9, 4-6 BIG EAST) concluded its 2021 season this weekend at Butler.
