Sophomore guard averaged 20.5 points in two wins
Sophomore guard Kam Jones of the Marquette University men's basketball team has been named the BIG EAST Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday morning.

The Memphis, Tennessee, native averaged 20.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in wins against N.C. Central and at Notre Dame. He combined to shoot 51.6 percent (16-of-31) from the floor and led all scorers in Sunday's 79-64 win over the Fighting Irish.

Jones, who has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on two occasions this season, earned player of the week accolades for the first time in his career. He has scored 20-or-more points in three of the team's last four outings.

Kam Jones, Marquette, G, So. – Jones scored a game-high 25 points and had six rebounds in a 79-64 victory at Notre Dame. He did not commit a turnover in 35 minutes. For the week, which included a 90-78 win over NC Central, Jones averaged 20.5 points and 5.0 rebounds.

Donovan Clingan, Connecticut, C, Fr. – Clingan made 18-of-19 shots from the field in a 2-0 week. He averaged 18.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in wins at Florida (75-54) and against Long Island U. (114-61). He shot 10-of-10 from the floor against LIU.

Manny Bates, Butler, C, Gr. – Averaged 17.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in wins against Yale (71-61) and at California (82-58).Â

Bryce Hopkins, Providence, F, So. – Averaged 16.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week. Had 22 points and 11 rebounds in a win against Manhattan (99-59).

Joel Soriano, St. John's, C, Sr. – Had double-doubles in wins over DePaul (86-67) and New Hampshire (64-51). Registered 17 points and 14 boards versus DePaul and 14 points and 14 rebounds against New Hampshire.  Â
