ESPN2 features coverage in non-conference finale
The Marquette University men's basketball team (7-3, 0-0 BIG EAST) wraps up the non-conference portion of its schedule when the squad travels to Notre Dame (7-2, 0-1 ACC) on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 3 p.m. CT. Â ESPN2 features the television broadcast, with John Sciambi (play-by-play) and Fran Fraschilla (analyst) calling the action. Â Following Sunday's game, which is the first in a home-and-home series with the Fighting Irish, the Golden Eagles will open BIG EAST action against nationally ranked Creighton on Friday, Dec. 16 at Fiserv Forum.

Sunday afternoon's matchup marks the first meeting between the two programs since the quarterfinals of the 2013 BIG EAST Conference Tournament in Madison Square Garden.

No. 24 Notre Dame posted a 73-65 win over No. 12 Marquette on March 14, but MU's season would continue that year until an appearance in the Elite Eight (lost to Syracuse in Washington, D.C.).

Sunday will mark the 119th all-time meeting in a series that dates back to the 1919-20 campaign. Â A majority of the contests came when both programs were independents, but the rivalry was renewed in 2005-06 when Marquette joined Notre Dame in the BIG EAST (UND left after 2012-13 campaign).

Marquette has only faced DePaul (131) and Wisconsin (129) more times than Notre Dame.Â

Marquette couldn't miss to start Tuesday's outing against N.C. Central, knocking down its first 11 field goal attempts from the floor.

The Golden Eagles would go on to shoot 75.9 percent (22-of-29) in the first half, its best mark since 72.4 percent against Western Carolina on Nov. 30, 2016. Â Forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper had 14 points by halftime, including 10 straight in the opening minutes.

MU finished the game 63.2 percent (36-of-57), led by Prosper's 11-of-14 performance. Â The team's effort from the field was its best since knocking down 64.9 percent of its shots against IUPUI on Dec. 14, 2013, an 86-50 win.
