O'Grady earns third BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honor

O'Grady had six goals against PC; Woodward also on honor roll

NEW YORK – Marquette University attackman Bobby O'Grady was named the BIG EAST Conference Freshman of the Week for men's lacrosse, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
The freshman scored a career-high six goals, the most ever for a Marquette freshman, as MU defeated Providence, 16-11 in its BIG EAST opener. He also added one assist for seven total points to tie a MU freshman record set by Conor Gately in 2013.
The native of Milton, Massachusetts leads MU with 26 goals and 30 points this season and is third in the BIG EAST in goals per game with 2.89 per contest.
Defenseman Mason Woodward was also named to the league's weekly honor roll. He picked up seven ground balls and led MU's defensive effort as the Golden Eagles held PC to just one goal in the first quarter and MU raced out to a 10-1 lead midway through the second quarter.
It is the third such honor for O'Grady this year and the second honor roll selection for Woodward..
The Golden Eagles are back in action on Saturday at St. John's in a 11:30 a.m. Central time matchup in Queens, New York.
