Mirkes and MU conclude 2021-22 season
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS - Saturday afternoon Marquette University Senior Lindsey Mirkes completed competition at the NCAA West Regionals in the high jump. The event consisted of 48 participants with the top-12 advancing to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Mirkes placed 19th in the NCAA Qualifier.
The All-BIG EAST Selection began the day by clearing the first two marks of 1.66 meters/5 feet, 5.25 inches and 1.71 meters/5 feet, 7.25 inches on her first attempts.
With 39 jumpers advancing to the third height, she tied her season-best mark of 1.76 meters/5 feet, 9.25 inches by clearing the bar on her second attempt.
The bar was then moved up to a height of 1.81 meters/5 feet, 11.25 inches, which would have been a new career-best for Mirkes and a school record. Mirkes was unable to clear the mark in her three attempts and exited the event in 19th place, tying her finish from last season.
"She did really well. She was able to tie her season's best and make some nice attempts 1.81 (meters)," said head coach Bert Rogers. "She went out at a height that would have been her best ever and a new school record. It was a good meet."
The De Pere native finishes her MU career with two BIG EAST high jump titles, seven All-BIG EAST honors, three NCAA West Preliminary Round appearances, and the school record in the outdoor high jump.
That officially concludes the 2021-22 season for the Marquette men's and women's track & field teams.
