WSOC Announces 2022 Schedule

Golden Eagles open regular season August 18 at Notre Dame
The Marquette University women's soccer team will open its 2022 campaign on Aug. 18 at Notre Dame, head coach Frank Pelaez announced Tuesday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles play a total of 18 regular-season matches, including 10 outings against BIG EAST Conference opponents. After hosting a pair of exhibition matchups at Valley Fields against Wisconsin (Aug. 7) and Purdue (Aug. 10), Marquette travels to South Bend, Indiana, for the 2022 lidlifter against the Fighting Irish.

"We are extremely excited about getting our team back on campus in early August and will have our first exhibition right away," Pelaez said. "Our non-conference schedule will test us early and often and have us well prepared for BIG EAST play."

Marquette opens conference play with a two-match road swing, beginning with DePaul on Sept. 22. The BIG EAST home opener comes Sept. 29 against Creighton.

The Golden Eagles finished 9-8-0 overall and 5-5-0 in BIG EAST action in 2021 in Pelaez's second campaign at the helm. The squad returns 19 letterwinners and welcomes 10 newcomers in 2022, including five transfers. Among those returning are all-league performers Katrina Wetherwell (All-BIG EAST Second Team) and Maggie Starker (BIG EAST All-Freshman Team).
