Six MUWLAX Players Named to All-BIG EAST Teams

Golden Eagles tie program record with six all-league honorees
NEW YORK — Six Marquette women's lacrosse players were named to the All-BIG EAST First and Second teams, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.Â
A pair of Golden Eagles were named to the All-BIG EAST First Team in senior midfielder Lydia Foust and junior attacker Mary Schumar, while junior draw control specialist Mary Blee, senior attacker Shea Garcia, senior defender Ellie Henry and junior midfielder Emma Soccodato earned All-BIG EAST Second Team honors.
With six all-league nominees, MU ties its program record set last season. The Golden Eagles finished the regular season second in the league standings.
ÂLydia Foust | All-BIG EAST First Team
A senior midfielder from Redwood City, California, Foust earned First Team All-BIG EAST honors for the second-consecutive season. Foust ranked third on the squad in both points (55) and goals (37) this season, while scoring in 14 of the 15 games she played in. Foust was named the league's Midfielder of the Week March 28 and April 18. In what was the best statistical season of her career, Foust had three or more points 10 times, including six scoring hat tricks. She totaled a career-high nine points on six goals and three assists against Butler on April 16. Foust was a unanimous selection to the first team.
ÂMary Schumar | All-BIG EAST First Team
A junior attacker from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Schumar earned First Team All-BIG EAST honors. Schumar led the league and ranked fifth in the nation with 41 assists this year, two shy of a MU program record. She also found the back of the net 24 times, scoring in 15 of 17 games, to total 65 points (3rd in the BIG EAST). Schumar had multiple assists on nine occasions, including four games with five-plus. She tied the program single-game assist record with seven against Butler on April 16.
ÂEmma Soccodato | All-BIG EAST Second Team
A junior midfielder from Huntington, New York, Soccodato earned Second Team All-BIG EAST honors. Soccodato proved to be one of Marquette's most consistent scoring threats, finding the net in 13 of the 15 games she played this season. She totaled 35 points on 29 goals and six assists, while also recording 22 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers and 61 draw controls. Soccodado led the squad and ranked fifth in the BIG EAST with a .527 shot percentage.
ÂMary Blee | All-BIG EAST Second Team
A junior draw control specialist from Howard County, Maryland, Blee earned Second Team All-BIG EAST honors. Blee was one of the top draw takers for a Marquette team that finished sixth in the NCAA with 17.59 draw controls per contest. She averaged 4.18 draw controls per game, sixth in the league, including having five-plus draw controls on seven occasions this year.Â
ÂEllie Henry | All-BIG EAST Second Team
A senior defender from Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Henry earned Second Team All-BIG EAST honors. Henry was one of the league's top defenders, while also playing a crucial role on a Marquette draw team which ranked sixth in the NCAA with 17.59 draw controls per game. Henry led the squad and ranked fourth in the BIG EAST with 4.94 draw controls per contest, while also leading the team in caused turnovers (19) and ranking fourth in ground balls (23). She had five-plus draw controls on nine occasions this year.
ÂShea Garcia | All-BIG EAST Second Team
A senior attacker from Manhasset, New York, Garcia earned Second Team All-BIG EAST honors. The leading scorer for the league's second-highest scoring offense this season, Garcia ranked fourth in the BIG EAST with 43 goals, more than four of the six attackers on the league's first-team. She also tacked on 16 assists to finish with 59 points, fifth-most in the BIG EAST. Garcia ranked second in the league in free position goals with .65 per contest, and fourth in shots on goal per game with 4.29. She was named BIG EAST Attacker of the Week on February 28, and earned Weekly Honor Roll honors three times. Garcia scored multiple goals on 12 occasions, and had three-plus points 10 times.
