Van Kleunen to Continue Playing Career Overseas

MU grad inks deal with Spain's Club Baloncesto Leganés
Marquette women's basketball graduate forward Lauren Van Kleunen has signed a professional contract to continue her playing career with Spain's Club Baloncesto Leganés.Â
The club, which competes in the Liga Femenina Endesa, is based in Leganés, Spain. It plays a 30-game regular season spanning from August to April, and is one of the top professional women's basketball leagues in Europe.
Van Kleunen concluded her Marquette career this season as one of the top players in program history. She became just the sixth MU player to reach 1,500 points and 800 rebounds in a career, and is the program's career leader in games played (160), ranking fourth in NCAA history.Â
In 2021-22, Van Kleunen earned All-BIG EAST First Team honors after scoring a team-best 13.7 points to go along with 6.4 rebounds per game. She also led the squad and ranked sixth in the BIG EAST with a .478 (197-of-412) field goal percentage.
The Mason, Ohio, native spent this summer playing with the GWBA's Wisconsin GLO, a professional team based out of Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
