MU opens up the season in Madison, Wisconsin on Sep. 11-13
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's golf team has announced its schedule for the 2022-23 season. The Golden Eagles begin their fall slate on Sep. 11-13 in Madison, Wisconsin at University Ridge for the Badger Invitational.
"In building our tournament schedule, our goal is to secure events with strong competition on championship golf courses," said Head Coach Stephen Bailey.
MU will make the familiar trip to the Windon Memorial Classic hosted by Northwestern on Sep. 26-27. The meet returns to Evanston Golf Club for the first time since 2017, when MU finished tied for fifth.
Marquette will then host its lone home tournament of the season on Oct. 2-3 at Milwaukee Country Club. Milwaukee C.C. is currently the 70th-ranked golf course in the U.S. by Golf Digest. Milwaukee C.C. last hosted the Marquette Intercollegiate back in 2016 and along with the Marquette Intercollegiate, the iconic course has played host to the 1903 Western Open, 1969 Walker Cup, 1988 U.S. Senior Amateur and the 2008 U.S. Mid Amateur.
"The gradual ascension of our schedule over the years is a direct reflection of hosting the Marquette Intercollegiate at Milwaukee Country Club and Erin Hills. We are thankful for the generosity of these world-class venues, it has been vital to our overall success," Bailey said.
The Golden Eagles complete the fall slate with trips to the Dayton Flyer Invitational (Oct. 17-18) and the Cal Poly Collegiate (Oct. 31 – Nov. 1). The Dayton Flyer Invitational will be held at NCR Country Club, the home of the 2022 U.S. Senior Women's Open. The Golden Eagles will take on another top-100 course when they travel to The Preserve for the Cal Poly Collegiate.
The spring season tees off in Puerto Rico with the Puerto Rico Classic hosted by Purdue at Grand Reserve Golf Club on Feb. 12-14. Grand Reserve G.C. is the host site for the PGA Tour's Puerto Rico Open.
MU also returns to the Valspar Collegiate at Floridian Golf Club on March 27-28. The individual winners of the Valspar Collegiate and Puerto Rico Classic receive an exemption into the PGA Tour events. Â
The Golden Eagles will make three new stops this spring at the Loyola Intercollegiate (Feb. 26-28), the Mizzou Intercollegiate (April 10-11) and the Redhawk Intercollegiate (April 17-18).
"We have a good combination of some familiar sites along with some new events on iconic courses."
The BIG EAST Championships will take place April 28-30. The date and location will be released at a later date. The NCAA Regionals are scheduled for May 15-17 with the course to be determined. For the third year in a row, the NCAA Championships (May 26-31) return to the Raptor Course at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
