Carly Skrabak earns BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week

Skrabak averaged 5.25 digs, including a BIG EAST-high 26 at No. 11 Kentucky
NEW YORK - Following a 26-dig performance in a season-opening win at No. 11 Kentucky, Marquette University libero Carly Skrabak is the BIG EAST Conference Defensive Player of the Week for women's volleyball.
Skrabak's dig total in the win over the Wildcats was a BIG EAST weekly-high and tied her career-best in an MU uniform. She posted 42 total digs in matches against UK and Ohio for an average of 5.25 per set in a 2-0 week. The senior notched 16 digs and a service ace in the sweep of the Bobcats.
The award is the first career weekly honor for Skrabak, who earned All-BIG EAST Championship Team recognition in 2021 for her play at the league tournament.Â
The Golden Eagles moved up to No. 24 in Monday's AVCA Coaches Poll and head to take on No. 6 Wisconsin, the reigning NCAA Champions, on Friday night in Madison. The match is set for 8 p.m. Central time at UW Field House and will air live on the Big Ten Network.

BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Norah Sis, Creighton, So., OH
Sis led the 18th-ranked Bluejays to a 3-0 start to the season and garnered MVP honors at the Rumble in the Rockies. The sophomore outside hitter averaged 5.23 points, 4.91 kills, 2.27 digs and 0.36 blocks per set on .250 hitting in wins over Iowa State, Wichita State and Wyoming. Her kills average led all BIG EAST players over the opening weekend of action, while her points average listed third. She opened the weekend with back-to-back double-doubles, including 17 kills and 10 digs against the Cyclones, followed by 15 kills, 10 digs against the Shockers. She wrapped up the weekend with a 22-kill, five-dig outing against the host Cowgirls, including a career-best 25.0 points in the four-set victory.

She tied her Marquette high with 26 digs in the five-set triumph over UK and recorded 16 digs with a service ace in the sweep of the Bobcats. Skrabak's 26 digs against the Wildcats were a single-match high in the BIG EAST over opening weekend, while her 16 digs against Ohio were the second-most among conference players in a three-set match.

Magda Stambrowska, St. John's, Fr., MB
Stambrowska was impressive in her St. John's debut, helping the Red Storm to go 3-0 during the opening weekend of play. The middle blocker posted a .446 hitting percentage over 13 sets, highest among all BIG EAST players with multiple match appearances last week, while her .458 clip against Appalachian State was a single-match high in the conference. Stambrowska's 1.23 blocks per set ranked fifth among all conference players, which included seven against the Mountaineers. In addition to App State, St. John's defeated California Baptist (3-1) and host Charleston Southern (3-1). Â

Maddie Klungel, Seton Hall, So., S – Temple Invitational MVP after filling the stat sheet with 9.71 assists per set, 1.29 kills per set, 1.71 digs per set, 0.57 blocks per set, .057 aces per set, zero attack errors and .429 attack percentage; Pirates went 2-0 with wins over the host Owls and Delaware
Carrigan O'Reilly, Xavier, Sr., S – Buffalo Tournament MVP after tallying 82 assists and 30 kills over 15 sets; double-double of 15 kills and 15 digs in win over Cleveland State, while also racking up double-digit (13) digs against UAB
