Golden Eagles in first place after pair of road wins
Marquette University women's soccer players Kate Gibson and Mia Haertle have earned weekly BIG EAST Conference accolades after a pair of road victories, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Kate Gibson, Marquette, So., F
In a 2-0-0 week for Marquette, Gibson had one goal and two assists in the Golden Eagles' 4-1 win at Butler. The sophomore forward had the second-most points in the league last week with four and tied for third-most points per game. She also had two shots on goal in the win at Butler and had one shot in Marquette's 3-2 win at DePaul.

BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week
Natalie Bain, Xavier, Fr., D
Bain played a big part on both the defensive and offensive side of the ball last week to help Xavier go 2-0-0. The freshman defender scored two goals and had one assist, including the game-winning goal at Butler. She also helped the Musketeers outshoot both of their opponents last week 30-16. Her game-winning goal at Butler came in the 23rd minute to give Xavier the lead and her goal against DePaul came in the 12th minute to give the Musketeers their initial lead in a 2-1 win.

BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Megan McClay, Villanova, Gr., GK
McClay had six saves and a shutout in Villanova's 2-0 win at Seton Hall. The graduate student had a 1.000 save percentage as the Pirates had six shots on goal. McClay ranks second in the league in both save percentage (.818) and saves per game (4.50) on the season.

Julia Leas, Georgetown, Sr., M – helped the Hoyas limit their opponents to just 10 shots, four shots on goal, and one corner kick in two wins last week
Natalie Means, Georgetown, Fr., F – assisted on the game-winning goal against St. John's; scored one goal in Georgetown's 4-0 win against Creighton
Mia Haertle, Marquette, So., M – made one goal in Marquette's 3-2 win at DePaul; helped the Golden Eagles outshoot the Blue Demons 18-10; facing 15 shots at Butler on Sunday, she helped Marquette limit the Bulldogs to just four shots on goal
Hannah Pinkus, Providence, Gr., M – scored the game-winning goal at Seton Hall in the 87th minute
