Hare goes for career-high 23 points in win, most points by a MU freshman since 2020
MILWAUKEE — The Marquette women's basketball team (12-7, 5-5 BIG EAST) earned a dominant victory over Seton Hall Sunday afternoon inside of the Al McGuire Center, winning 80-61.
"This was a tremendous team win today," said Marquette head coach Megan Duffy. "Seton Hall is a great team and I thought we did an awesome job guarding their big two of Lauren Park-Lane and Sidney Cooks. I can't say enough about our bench, to come in and help us be successful. Kenzie Hare was tremendous."
With MU's leading scorer Jordan King limited to just 20 minutes due to foul trouble, the freshmen guard duo of Mackenzie Hare and Emily La Chapell stepped up big for the Golden Eagles. Hare went off for a career-high 23 points, while La Chapell went for 12 points, two rebounds, four assists and three steals.
The Golden Eagles got off to a hot start, opening the game with a 14-7 advantage to trigger a Seton Hall timeout midway through the first quarter. The game remained within a few possessions until MU used an 18-0 run in the second quarter, holding the Pirates scoreless for over six minutes of action to open up a 23-point lead at the half.
