Marotta Earns BIG EAST Weekly Honors

Senior forward named to Weekly Honor Roll after strong statistical week
NEW YORK — Marquette's Chloe Marotta was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after a pair of strong statistical performances last week, the league office announced Monday morning. The senior forward averaged 21.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals while shooting a combined 51.4 percent (18-of-35) from the floor. Against St. John's, she went for a double-double of 24 points and 12 boards. She followed that performance by going for 19 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, two blocks and a career-high tying four steals in the team's win over Seton Hall on Sunday. This is Marotta's third weekly honor of the year, and the fourth of her career.Â
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Maddy Siegrist, Villanova, Sr., FÂ
It was yet another record-breaking week for the Villanova senior forward as Siegrist broke the Villanova career scoring standard Friday night at RV/RV Creighton. She finished with a game-high 23 points against the Bluejays while corralling a game-best eight rebounds. Siegrist connected on a turnaround jumper at the 6:32 mark of the fourth quarter to become the all-time leading scorer in the history of Villanova basketball, men's and women's, with 2,409 points. With her 23-point total on the night, she now has 2,414 career points, including 1,393 in BIG EAST play for No. 2 all-time in league history. Siegrist also had game highs of 27 points and 10 rebounds in Tuesday's win over Xavier. For the week, Siegrist, the nation's leading scorer, led the BIG EAST in scoring at 25.0 points per game while listing third in rebounding at 9.0 per contest. This is her BIG EAST-record 15th Player of the Week nod of her career. Â
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Kennedy Fauntleroy, Georgetown, Fr., G
Fauntleroy was the BIG EAST's top-scoring freshman last week and No. 4 among all league players with a 21.0 average in a 2-0 week for the Hoyas. Fauntleroy's week was highlighted by a 25-point outing in Wednesday's win over DePaul. She was 8-of-16 from the field while grabbing three boards and dishing three assists. She also had 17 points and five rebounds in Sunday's win at Providence. This is her fifth BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honor.Â
