Hamilton earns fifth consecutive BIG EAST weekly honor

NEW YORK – Marquette University Outside hitter Aubrey Hamilton earned her fifth BIG EAST Conference accolade in as many weeks on Monday with weekly honor roll recognition.

Hamilton posted a league-high 40 kills in matches at Seton Hall and St. John's, and hit .314 with 4.44 kills and 4.83 points per set. She opened the weekend with a match-best 18 kills, four digs, three blocks and a service ace in Friday's 3-1 win over the Pirates.

The Hartland, Wisconsin native then rebounded from a slow start against the Red Storm on Saturday to finish with 22 kills, seven digs and a block. It was the third time this season she has reached 20 kills in a match and is her highest total since posting 23 in a five-set loss to then-No. 25 Purdue on Sept. 1 in Lawrence, Kansas.

In eight BIG EAST matches, Hamilton is hitting a combined .390 (118-17-259) on over 100 more swings than anyone else in the top-10 of the league's rankings.

She has earned weekly honors in each of the last five weeks and was the conference offensive player of the week last Monday.

The Golden Eagles, who are tied atop the BIG EAST leaderboard with St. John's at 7-1, resume BIG EAST play on Friday and Saturday at Butler and Xavier, respectively.
