
Kam Jones Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

Junior guard honored for third time in career
In the first weekly honors of the season, Marquette guard Kam Jones has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Connecticut guard Stephon Castle has been tabbed BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Both players helped their teams to 2-0 weeks.
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Kam Jones, Marquette, G, Jr. – Jones led the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 week by averaging 21.5 points and being the game's leading scorer in both contests. He had 20 points in the season-opening win over Northern Illinois (92-70) and 23 points in a victory against Rider (95-65). His 21.5 scoring mark came while averaging only 24 minutes per game.
The honor was the third of Jones' career. He also claimed the weekly accolade twice in 2022-23.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Stephon Castle, Connecticut, G, Fr. – Castle helped the Huskies to a 2-0 week by averaging 14.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists. He had 17 points, eight rebounds, and five assists in a win against Stonehill (107-67). The BIG EAST Preseason Freshman of the Year shot 66.7 percent from the field in the two contests and made four steals.

Alex Karaban, Connecticut, F, So. – Averaged 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 61.1 percent shooting from the field. Netted a career-high 22 points in the opener against Northern Arizona (95-52).
Trey Alexander, Creighton, G, Jr. – Averaged 20.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.0 assists in a 2-0 week. Shot 71.4 percent from the field and was 9-of-9 at the line while helping the Bluejays beat two opponents by a combined 80 points.
Devin Carter, Providence, G, Jr. – Averaged 13.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 blocks. Posted 13 points and six boards in each win (Columbia 78-59 and Milwaukee 79-69).
Kadary Richmond, Seton Hall, G, Sr. – Averaged 16.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.0 steals and 4.5 assists in a 2-0 week. Made 50 percent from the floor and 80 percent from the foul line.
Desmond Claude, Xavier, G, So. – Averaged 18.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week. More than doubled his career scoring high (12 pts.) with 25 points in a win over Robert Morris (77-63).
