Murray and Hamilton earn BIG EAST Weekly Honors

The Golden Eagles earned a share of their fourth BIG EAST title to close the regular season

NEW YORK – Marquette University middle blocker Carsen Murray and outside hitter Aubrey Hamilton each earned weekly honors from the BIG EAST Conference for women's volleyball, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
Murray is the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for the first time this season, while Hamilton is on the honor roll for her sixth weekly recognition this year.
Murray hit .611 with 1.33 blocks per set in a 2-0 week for the Golden Eagles in sweeps of St. John's and Seton Hall. She did not have a hitting error in either match and posted seven kills and five blocks on Saturday as MU secured its third-consecutive regular season conference title. During conference play, Murray hit a league-best .420 (105-21-200) and was fourth in the conference with 1.00 blocks per set (58 total).
Hamilton averaged 3.50 kills and 2.33 digs with four total service aces and four blocks this week. She hit a combined .246 and averaged a team-best 4.67 points per set for the Golden Eagles. She had 11 kills, eight digs, two blocks and two service aces against the Pirates on Saturday. Hamilton paced the Golden Eagles in conference play this year by landing 229 kills (3.82 per set) and hitting .312 on 568 total swings.
The Golden Eagles host the BIG EAST Conference Women's Volleyball Championship at the Al McGuire Center on Nov. 22-25 and have earned a first round bye. Their first match will be in Friday's 12:30 p.m. Central time semifinal against the winner of the first round matchup between St. John's and Villanova.Â
