Student-athletes had the opportunity to network with local professionals at the Al McGuire Center
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics hosted its Student-Athlete Career Networking Night at the Al McGuire Center on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Student-athletes from different majors across the University's seven colleges were provided the opportunity to expand their network and acquire advice from professionals in a variety of industries and connect with businesses about NIL activities.
Companies in attendance included Sweetgreen, JLL, Stryker, Neostella, JP Morgan, Software One, Aurora, the Milwaukee Bucks, and many more. Members of the Marquette M Club and other Marquette Alumni represented businesses at the event.
Former MU student-athletes Axel Sjoberg, Michael Strait, Ashley Bares, and Lauren Milner kicked off the event with a Q&A segment where they answered questions that connected their time at Marquette to skills that helped them to successful integrations into the workforce.
"It was very cool to see how student-athletes from Marquette have continued their successes from their sport into their careers," women's volleyball player Ella Foti said.
Employers from each business set up a table in the main concourse, where student-athletes could walk around, pitch themselves, and ask questions to professionals within their desired industry. The event was a unique opportunity to unite athletes from each team during their busy seasons to provide essential networking for their future careers and kickstart potential NIL opportunities.
"The career event was spectacular," men's lacrosse player Billy Rojack said. "It was inspiring to see all the impressive alumni who truly want to engage with student-athletes. But more than anything, the event showed the family nature of Marquette Athletics, of which I am beyond grateful to be a member."
Companies currently recruiting for internships, full-time employment, NIL opportunities, or professionals interested in attending the career night in the future, please contact Katie Braunreiter in the athletic department by email or by phone at 414-288-4881.
