Garcia, Foust Earn Player of the Week Honors

Garcia named BIG EAST Attacker of the Week, Foust named Midfielder of the Week
NEW YORK — After helping Marquette to a 2-0 showing on the road last week, the senior duo of Shea Garcia and Lydia Foust earned weekly honors from the league. Garcia was named the BIG EAST Attacker of the Week after a pair of stellar performances which saw her total 10 points on nine goals and an assist. Against Cincinnati, she scored five goals with an assist on just eight shots, and recorded four goals, two ground balls, a caused turnover and a draw control at Youngstown State. Foust was named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week after totaling six points on five goals and an assist. She had a big performance at Cincinnati, with four goals and an assist in the win.Â
This is the second time that Garcia has been named attacker of the week in her career, and Foust's fourth midfielder of the week honor.Â

Shea Garcia, Marquette, Sr., A
The senior attacker earned 10 points last week scoring nine goals along with an assist as the Golden Eagles went 2-0. Garcia had 11 shots on goal as Marquette defeated Youngstown State, 18-11, and Cincinnati, 19-13, on the road. She also added two groundballs, one caused turnover and one draw control against the Penguins.Â

Lydia Foust, Marquette, Sr., M
Foust totaled six points off five goals and one assist for the Golden Eagles earning her second consecutive BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week award. Additionally, Foust added one groundball in Marquette's win over Youngstown State and her assist came in the victory against Cincinnati.Â

BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Landyn White, Connecticut, Gr., GK
In UConn's first two games of the season, White made 32 saves in a 1-1 week for the Huskies. The graduate student added 11 total groundballs, including five in the 18-17 win over Fairfield. In a 11-7 loss to No. 12 James Madison, White had 20 saves, six groundballs and two caused turnovers.Â

Elena Torres, Villanova, Fr., M
The first-year midfielder scored two goals and added three assists in Villanova's 14-13 win over Saint Joseph's. Torres had the most assists of any Wildcat last week and assisted on Villanova's first goal of the game.Â
