Schumar named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

The Michigander posted eight points in the win over UC Davis
NEW YORK — Marquette University senior attacker Mary Schumar was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll for Women's Lacrosse, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
Schumar paced the Golden Eagles to a 19-17 win at UC Davis on Sunday afternoon with eight points on four goals and four assists. The native Michigander also picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover against the Aggies.
The national leader in assists at 4.17 per contest leads Marquette with 33 points on nine goals and 24 assists through six games this season.
Schumar leads the 5-1 Golden Eagles into action at home this weekend with games at Valley Fields against Niagara and Louisville on Thursday and Sunday, respectively.Â
BIG EAST Attacker of the Week
Emma Gebhardt, Georgetown, So., A
Gebhardt became the second player this season to score 10 goals in an NCAA Division I game, which is the most goals scored in a game this season. The sophomore attacker hit the back of the net 10 times against Monmouth to lead the Hoyas to an 18-16 victory. Gebhardt totaled 12 points last week with her 10 goals and by adding two assists. She also had two ground balls and one caused turnover in a 1-1 week for the Hoyas.

BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week
Leah Rubino, Butler, Jr., M
The junior midfielder performed on both the offensive and defensive side for Butler as the Bulldogs had a 1-0 week. Rubino had five draw controls, three ground balls and totaled three points off two goals and one assist in the Bulldogs 13-8 win over Lindenwood.

BIG EAST Defender of the Week
Trinity McPherson, Denver, Gr., D
McPherson had a strong defensive showing for No. 6 Denver last week as the Pioneers went 1-0 with a 17-5 win over Niagara. The graduate defender totaled six draw controls, two ground balls and one caused turnover against the Purple Eagles. McPherson also scored her first career goal in the win.

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Lola Mancuso, Xavier, Fr., A
In a 1-1 week for Xavier, Mancuso scored nine goals off 14 shots on goal to total nine points for the week. The freshman attacker also added two caused turnovers, one ground ball and one draw control in the two games. Mancuso scored four goals against Wofford and five goals in an 11-10 victory over Eastern Michigan. Mancuso is also tied for eighth nationally in goals per game with 3.86.
