Golden Eagles open play Friday against Vermont
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The second-seeded Marquette University men's basketball team (28-6, 17-3 BIG EAST) took part in first-round media availability on Thursday, March 16 at Nationwide Arena.
The team began media day with coaches and student-athlete interviews.
"Really excited to be here in Columbus with our guys, it's been heck of a journey to this point," Coach Shaka Smart said in opening. "Just really grateful to be here and very appreciative of the guys that we have in our locker room." Â
Tyler Kolek, Kam Jones and Olivier-Maxence Prosper took the media podium next to discuss their Friday matchup vs fifteenth-seeded Vermont.
"It starts with us on the defensive end, like we did in New York," Prosper said on BIG EAST Tournament success. "If we play for each other, leave everything on the floor and we focus on starting on the defensive end we're going to play the way we want to play and have the outcomes we want to have."
The team also participated in open practice, the NCAA grants each participating program a 40-minute practice slot that gives media and fans an opportunity to watch teams go through various drills the day before competition.
