Evangelio is the BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week

Evangelio shot 8-under par to finish fifth at the Loyola Intercollegiate

NEW YORK - Marquette University senior Nicolás Evangelio was named BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week, the league announced Thursday afternoon. This is Evangelio's first time receiving the honor.

Evangelio paced the Golden Eagles with an 8-under par 208 in the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona on Feb. 26-28. The Logroño, Spain native shot under par in all three rounds, including a season-low 5-under 67 in the final round. He went 1-under (71) and 2-under (70) in the opening two rounds to help tie his career-low 54-hole event score . Evangelio placed fifth individually.

Marquette took second place in the tournament with a 20-under par 844 (287-280-277).
