LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – Marquette University men's lacrosse player Mason Woodward has been selected to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division I Team of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
Woodward paced the Golden Eagles to a 12-11 victory over then-No. 5 Penn State on Saturday afternoon at Gen. Douglas MacArthur High School in Levittown, New York.
The native of Towson, Maryland led a dominant Marquette defensive effort by picking up a game-high seven ground balls and causing two turnovers. He helped hold Penn State to its second-lowest goal total of the season and to just nine goals prior to the final 51 seconds. The game marked the fifth time this season that Woodward picked up at least five ground balls.
Woodward was previously named to the USILA Team of the Week on Feb. 4, 2020 during his freshman year after picking up eight ground balls and causing three turnovers in his NCAA debut at Cleveland State.

The Golden Eagles, who are receiving votes in both the USILA and media polls, return to action at noon Central time on Saturday against St. Bonaventure in the dome at Valley Fields.
