Van Vooren Breaks School Record in 400 Hurdles

Van Vooren advances to quarterfinals
Sacramento, Calif. - Marquette University senior Mitchell Van Vooren broke the 400 hurdles school record at the NCAA West Preliminaries to advance to the quarterfinals.
Van Vooren rolled to a big personal best time of 51.38 to break the school of 51.76 set by Brian Olsson in 2000.
The All-BIG EAST selection finished sixth in his heat and 21st overall. Today's top-24 finishers will compete in the quarterfinals on Friday. The final 12 will continue to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas.
Action will continue from Sacramento State on Friday with Dan Weizeorick competing in the steeplechase. The steeplechase will begin at 7:40 p.m. CT and the 400 hurdles will follow at 9:25 p.m. CT.
