Golden Eagles Begin campaign August 17 vs. Northwestern
The Marquette University women's soccer team officially kicked off its preseason Monday morning with a workout on a picture-perfect day at Valley Fields.
The Golden Eagles will venture to the valley twice a day to begin preseason, with the team's first exhibition on August 8 at Green Bay. MU opens the regular season on August 17 at home against Northwestern.
"It's always an exciting time of year and it's great to finally have this year's group all together in the same place," head coach Frank Pelaez said. "We have a bunch of experienced players returning and I am looking forward to seeing our freshman class work into the mix."
Of the 14 players who found the back of the net in 2022, 11 are back on the roster for Pelaez, who is in his fourth season. Forward Elsi Twombly led the roster in points (11) and six of the top seven overall scorers are back in the Blue & Gold.

Netminders Chloe Olson and Mikki Easter combined to cover all of the team's minutes in net a season ago and the duo owns 42 career appearances.

MU returns 22 total returning letterwinners and adds eight true freshmen to the roster in 2023.
