Byrnes and Richard square off on Saturday night in the PLL
MILWAUKEE – Marquette University alumni Jake Richard and Liam Byrnes will square off Saturday night in the Premier Lacrosse League game of the week at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium in Denver as Atlas LC and Waterdogs LC meet at 6 p.m. Central time on ESPN2.
Byrnes and Richard captured a gold medal earlier this summer as part of Team USA in the 2023 World Lacrosse Men's Championship in San Diego and are each in their eighth seasons of professional lacrosse careers.
Jared Hershman also competed in his second world championship this summer, while current Marquette student-athletes Luke Blanc and JP Henry played for France and Puerto Rico, respectively.
Four former Golden Eagles also played significant roles in the National Lacrosse League during the 2022-23 campaign, including Byrnes with the Philadelphia Wings. Connor McClelland claimed 67 loose ball recoveries and caused 10 turnovers for the Saskatchewan Rush, while Tanner Thomson posted 51 points for the Albany Firewolves. Joshn Wagner led all MU players with 115 loose balls and 33 caused turnovers while contributing 15 points.
