Golden Eagles receive their highest preseason ranking in program history
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women's volleyball team is ranked 12th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Preseason Top-25 Poll, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.
The ranking is the highest preseason slotting for the Golden Eagles, who ended last season No. 13 in the final AVCA poll of the year.
Marquette has ended four campaigns ranked in the AVCA poll and has risen as high as No. 7 during the 2019 season. MU entered 2019 at No. 16 and spent a total of nine weeks in the top 10 before finishing 20th.
The Golden Eagles went 29-4 overall in 2022, which included a trip to their second NCAA regional semifinal and a match against eventual NCAA Champion Texas.
In addition to a pair of matches against No. 18 Creighton in BIG EAST Conference play, Marquette will face No. 2 Wisconsin, No. 5 Pittsburgh, No. 9 Oregon, No. 16 Purdue and No. 24 Western Kentucky in non-conference action.
