Golden Eagles add two coaches to staff under Shaufler
MILWAUKEE - Jayson Wiseman and Caio Barros have joined the Marquette University tennis program as associate head coach (Wiseman) and assistant coach (Barros), interim director of tennis Jud Shaufler announced Monday morning.
With Marquette, Wiseman and Barros will both help with all aspects of the program's needs, and player development.
"I am very excited to work with both of our new coaches and I believe they will be very good for both of our teams," Shaufler said. "I know they are both excited to get to work to help provide a great student-athlete experience."
Wiseman arrives at Marquette after most recently serving one season as the head coach for Mount Saint Joseph tennis program before the program was discounted due to the university's financial shortfall in May 2023.
Prior to Mount Saint Joseph, Wiseman served as the head women's tennis coach at Eastern Michigan where he led his team to 10 or more wins for four straight seasons, and helped players be named First Team and Second Team All-MAC, Sportsmanship Award Winner, and Regional Top 20.
A graduate of Ferris State University, Wiseman earned his bachelor's degree in marketing & professional tennis management. While working at Bowling Green State as a volunteer assistant head tennis coach in 2011, he earned his Master of Education in sport administration and earned his master's in criminal justice in 2012.
Barros joins Marquette after most recently serving as Director at Racket Sports in his role of overseeing day-to-day operations of tennis including but not limited to lesson planning, coaches' schedules, leagues sign-ups and pairings and events organization.
Barros also served as assistant coach for the tennis program at Cardinal Stritch for three seasons. At Cardinal Stritch he assisted with player development, managed travel, equipment, and coordinated match locations among other duties assigned.
A three-year letterwinner at Cardinal Stritch, Barros earned his bachelor's degree in broad field studies in 2017 and his masters in sport management in 2020.
