Anchante is BIG EAST Setter of the Week

Anchante and Hattie Bray earn BIG EAST weekly accolades

NEW YORK - Yadhira Anchante of the Marquette University women's volleyball team is the BIG EAST Conference Setter of the Week for her play in a pair of sweeps over Georgetown and Seton Hall, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
Redshirt junior middle blocker Hattie Bray was also named to the league's weekly honor roll for the second time this season. Anchante's recognition is her second setter of the week honor and fifth accolade of the year overall.
Anchante paced the Golden Eagles with 13.50 assists per set and a combined team hitting mark of .350. She posted 35 assists, nine digs, three blocks and a .833 hitting mark with five kills against Georgetown on Friday evening.
In Sunday's match against Seton Hall, Anchante had her 19th double double of the year with 46 assists and 12 digs. Her assist total is the highest of her career in a three-set match and the ninth-highest mark in all of her 87 career NCAA Division I contests.Â
Bray hit .611 (25-3-36) in the two matches and led the Golden Eagles with 4.17 kills and 5.08 points per set. Bray notched 11 and 14 kills against Georgetown and Seton Hall, respectively. She hit .529 against the Hoyas on Friday and added an ace and a pair of blocks. In Sunday's win over Seton Hall, the redshirt junior recorded three blocks, three digs and a pair of aces for 17.5 total points. For the week, in addition to her 4.17 kills per set, Bray notched 0.50 service aces and 0.83 blocks per frame.
The Golden Eagles conclude the regular season on Nov. 22 and 24 at Xavier and DePaul, respectively, before BIG EAST tournament play Nov. 29-30 in Omaha, Nebraska. By virtue of its 14-2 record in BIG EAST play, MU has earned a bye into the league semifinals and will play in the Friday, Nov. 29 late match at 5 p.m. Central time.Â
