Kam Jones Earns BIG EAST Player of the Week

Senior guard claims honor for second-straight week, fifth in career
For a second straight week, Marquette guard Kam Jones has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week. Jones put together a triple-double in a win over sixth-ranked Purdue and helped the unbeaten Golden Eagles to a 2-0 week. For the second time this season, Georgetown forward Thomas Sorber has been named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after making all-around contributions in a 2-0 week for the Hoyas.

Kam Jones, Marquette, G, Sr.
In a 76-58 victory against Purdue, Jones' stat line for the triple-double was 17 points, a career-high 13 rebounds and 10 assists. He followed that with 10 points and seven assists in an 80-69 neutral court win over Georgia. In the two victories, Jones shot 12-of-20 from the field. For the week, Jones averaged 13.5 points, 8.5 assists and 7.0 boards.Â

Thomas Sorber, Georgetown, F, Fr.
Sorber averaged 11.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocked shots in a pair of wins. He made 10-of-14 shots from the field. The Hoyas beat Mount St. Mary's 79-51 and St. Francis, Pa. 82-65.
