LEXINGTON, Kentucky – Marquette University women's volleyball players Yadhira Anchante, Hattie Bray and Aubrey Hamilton were each named to the AVCA All-North Region First Team, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced on Tuesday morning.
The honor is the third of Hamilton's career, while Anchante and Bray are each recognized for the second time. It is the ninth time in program history that MU has had at least three players honored and all three advance to the AVCA All-American ballot, the results of which will be announced on Dec. 16-17.
Hamilton leads MU in kills for the third time in as many years with 425 for an average of 3.73 per set. She reached her 1,000th kill in a MU uniform with a career-high 28 in a five-set home win over DePaul on Oct. 18, and enters NCAA Regional play fifth in program history with 1,249 kills at MU. The native of Hartland, Wisconsin is a three-time All-BIG EAST Team choice and has earned three All-BIG EAST Championship selections. She is the third MU player to ever earn three AVCA All-Region honors, following Jenna Rosenthal (2016-18) and Allie Barber (2017-19).
Hamilton led MU into its second NCAA Round of 16 appearance in three years with 4.25 kills per set in the first two rounds of NCAA play this year in wins over Florida Gulf Coast and No. 17 Utah. She posted match highs of 14 and 20 kills, respectively, against the Eagles and Utes.
Bray and Hamilton were both unanimous selections to the All-BIG EAST Team after Bray hit .431 in league play, a full 20 points higher than Creighton's Ava Martin in second place. For the season, Bray averages 2.43 kills and 0.84 blocks per set while hitting .337. She also earned AVCA All-Region honors last season and was the lone MU player on the NCAA's All-Austin Regional Team in 2022.
Anchante is back on the AVCA All-Region Team for the first time since 2022, when she was the BIG EAST Setter of the Year. She paces the MU offense to a .264 season-long hitting percentage and averages 10.63 assists and a career-high 3.25 digs.
The native of Lima, Peru is the fourth player in program history with over 3,000 career assists and enters postseason play with 3,405 in her three-year NCAA Division I career. She leads MU this season with 22 double doubles.
In the NCAA tournament wins over FGCU and Utah, Anchante averaged 11.25 assists and 5.13 digs per set and tied program single-match tournament records against the Utes with 51 assists and 25 digs.
The Golden Eagles have advanced to their third NCAA Regional and will face top-seeded No. 2 Penn State on Friday at roughly 2:30 p.m. Central time in the Round of 16 at Rec Hall in University Park, Pennsylvania. The match airs live on ESPN2.
