Kaitlyn Huber earns spot on conference’s weekly honor roll
NEW YORK – Marquette University women's lacrosse junior attacker Meg Bireley has been named BIG EAST Attacker of the Week in the conference's first weekly awards of the season.
This marks Bireley's first attacker of the week honor of her career. The junior was named freshman of the week twice in 2022 and appeared on the weekly honor roll once last season.
The Glenville, Illinois native scored a career-high seven goals in the 18-12 season-opening win over Cincinnati on Sunday. It was her 26th career game with multiple goals in her career. Seven goals ties the second-most goals in a game in program history set by Megan Menzuber and Lydia Foust (twice).
Bireley's seven points were a single game career-high. She also had career-highs in shots (12) and shots on goal (10).
Kaitlyn Huber earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the first time in her career.
The senior had career-highs in caused turnovers (3), grounds balls (2) and draw controls (1).
Marquette returns to action on Friday, Feb. 16 in the first road game of the season at Louisville. Faceoff is at 11 a.m. CT.
