Golden Eagles open tournament play Saturday against Ole Miss
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The 10-seeded Marquette University women's basketball team took part in NCAA First Round Media Day on Friday at Purcell Pavilion in South Bend, Indiana.
Marquette student-athletes Jordan King, Liza Karlen and Mackenzie Hare were first at the podium.
"For us, every time we step out on the floor, it's competitive basketball," King said. "That's Marquette Basketball. That's BIG EAST Basketball. For us, we need to be that from the get-go and lock into what we've been capable of all year."
Head coach Megan Duffy discussed Saturday's matchup with Ole Miss and returning to South Bend.
"We have a huge challenge ahead of us facing Ole Miss," Duffy said. "Coach Yo has done a phenomenal job with building her program. They are athletic; they are long; they are physical. They are just as tough as any team we've faced with just their relentless pressure in different ways."
"I think when I look back at my experience sitting here as a head coach at Marquette playing in the NCAA Tournament, I don't know if I would be here if it wasn't for my experience playing for Coach McGraw and being at this institution. I had such a positive experience. It really propelled me into wanting to coach and teach and mentor."
Marquette opens NCAA tournament play on Saturday, March 23 at 3:45 p.m. CT against No. 7 seed Ole Miss on ESPNU.
