MILWAUKEE – Marquette University women's basketball head coach Cara Consuegra has retained Khadijah Rushdan as an assistant coach with the program.
Rushdan was an assistant coach under Megan Duffy at MU during the 2023-24 season.
"I am very excited to have Khadijah on my staff here at Marquette," Consuegra said. "Khadijah had an incredible playing career and her passion for game will help elevate our program. She has the energy needed to continue the winning tradition at Marquette and her ability to lead and connect with student-athletes will have a tremendous impact on our program."
The former Rutgers star had assistant coaching stops at North Florida (2018-23) and LaSalle (2017-18) before coming to Milwaukee.
"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity and trust by Cara to stay on here at Marquette," Rushdan said. "I believe in her wholeheartedly, for not only who she is as a coach and her vision, but even more as a person. She's a proven winner with contagious energy and I couldn't be more thrilled to continue a winning tradition alongside of her."
As a player, Rushdan had a high level of success at the collegiate, professional, and national team levels. After a strong collegiate career at Rutgers, she was selected as the 15th overall pick in the 2012 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks. She spent one season there before playing professionally in Israel in 2012-13.
Rushdan won a gold medal at the 2006 FIBA Americas Championship as a member of the USA U18 National Team.
Rushdan earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science from Rutgers in 2012, then returned to her alma mater for a master's degree in global sports business in 2018.
