Former Marquette star is playing in her second Olympic games
PARIS – Marquette women's basketball alum Katherine Plouffe '14 is set to play for Team Canada in 3x3 basketball at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games.
Plouffe will be playing in her second Olympic games after competing for Canada's 5x5 team in Rio in 2016. She will compete alongside her twin sister, Michelle.
Team Canada won back-to-back FIBA 3x3 Women's Series titles in 2022 and 2023 and a silver medal at the 2022 FIBA World Cup.
Plouffe was named MVP of the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series opener in Springfield, Massachusetts in April of 2024. In May, she earned MVP honors at the FIBA 3×3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Hungary where Canada finished third to earn its first ever Olympic berth in 3×3 basketball.
Plouffe played for the Golden Eagles from 2010 to 2014. She averaged a double-double her senior season with 17.1 points and 10.2 rebounds per game and was named BIG EAST Scholar Athlete of the Year and First Team All-BIG EAST. She was Second Team All-BIG EAST in 2012-13 and was a member of the All-BIG EAST Freshman Team in 2010-11.
Plouffe is 13th on the all-time scoring list with 1,551 career points and fifth with 973 career rebounds. She set the program record for rebounds in a game when she had 26 at Indiana State in the WNIT on March 20, 2014.
Plouffe and Team Canada start their 3x3 competition on Tuesday, July 30 at 11 a.m. CT against Australia.
