
263 Marquette Student-Athletes Named to 2023-24 BIG EAST All-Academic Team

82 percent of MU's student-athletes were recognized for academic success
NEW YORK – 82 percent of Marquette's 320 student-athletes were named to the 2023-24 BIG EAST All-Academic team on Tuesday.
The BIG EAST Conference announced the names of more than 3,100 student-athletes who were selected to the all-academic team.
Marquette student-athletes combined for a 3.456 GPA in the fall of 2023 and a 3.467 in the spring of 2024. 37 student-athletes achieved a 4.0 GPA in the fall while 38 did in the spring.
The AD Honor Roll (3.0 GPA or above) at Marquette had 263 names in the fall of 2023 and 267 in the spring of 2024.
Nominations for the all-academic Team are submitted by each of the BIG EAST's 11 member schools and six affiliate institutions. To be eligible for the honor, a nominee must have competed in a BIG EAST-sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 for the preceding academic year, and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work, with a total of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits, not including remedial courses.
There are 3,150 honorees for the 2023-24 academic year. Georgetown led the way with 425 student-athletes honored with Villanova having the second most with 390. Connecticut (288) and Xavier (279) rounded out the top four institutions. Affiliate student-athletes made up 189 of the honorees.
