Bodner, Dietrich, Ortman and VanGuilder to lead Golden Eagles
MILWAUKEE – Marquette University women's lacrosse head coach Meredith Black announced Hanna Bodner, Lily Dietrich, Devon Ortman and Lorelai VanGuilder as 2025 team captains on Wednesday.
"The four captains selected will do a great job getting the most out of this team," Black said. "They all individually take care of the work at hand, and with the assistance of the other upperclassmen on the team, this group can really help our team compete as ONE. The four of them show strong leadership with their own twist on it, which is why they were each selected by their peers for this title."
Bodner has appeared in 28 games for Marquette with 12 starts. The senior from Haverford, Pennsylvania was sixth on the team in goals last season with 15 and added six assists. Bodner was third on the team with 24 draw controls.
Dietrich, who is making the switch from midfield to defense her senior year, has played in 27 career games for the Golden Eagles with one start. The Kennett Square, Pennsylvania native had nine ground balls and seven caused turnovers last season.
Ortman transferred to Marquette after three seasons at Colorado College where she started in 56-of-57 games for the Tigers. Ortman, from Oakland, California, was a 2024 IWLCA Third Team All-American and was First Team All-WIAC the last two seasons.
VanGuilder has appeared in 15 games for Marquette, including nine as a reserve draw specialist last season. The St. Paul, Minnesota native had 16 draw controls last season, including a career-high seven against Villanova on April 27, 2024.
Marquette opens its 2025 campaign on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at Central Michigan.
