Golden Eagles wrap up three-game homestand
The Marquette University women's lacrosse team hosts Denver on Wednesday at 12 p.m. CT to wrap up its three-game homestand. The game will be broadcast on FloCollege with Matt Menzl (play-by-play) on the call.
Marquette and Denver are meeting for the 10th time Wednesday. The Golden Eagles (14.36 goals per game) and Pioneers (13.91 goals per game) come into Wednesday's game No.'s 1 and 2 in scoring offense in the BIG EAST.
BODNER NAMED BIG EAST MIDFIELDER OF THE WEEK AGAIN
• Hanna Bodner earned BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week honors on Monday for the second week in a row.
• Bodner had 11 goals, two assists, seven ground balls and seven draw controls in MU's 2-0 week.
• The Haverford, Pennsylvania native had a career-high eight goals and one assists in the win against Arizona State, including netting the game winner in overtime. She followed that up with a hat trick against Xavier on Saturday.
BOEHM NAMED BIG EAST FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
• Tessa Boehm earned BIG EAST Freshman of the week after tallying five assists last week for the Golden Eagles.
• Boehm had two assists against Arizona State and a career-high tying three assists in the win against Xavier on Saturday.
BIRELEY AMONG NCAA LEADERS ON OFFENSE
• Meg Bireley is first in the BIG EAST and 10th in the nation with 45 goals on the season.
• The senior attacker is first in the conference and eighth nationally averaging over a hat trick per game at 4.09 goals per outing.
• Bireley is first in the nation at 11.09 shots per game.
• At MU, she is the all-time points leader (238), goals leader (189), shots leader (456) and shots on goal leader (335).
• Bireley is sixth among active players in goals and 11th in points.
