Bodner and Bireley Earn BIG EAST Midfielder and Attacker of the Week Honors

Velner earns spot on BIG EAST weekly honor roll
NEW YORK – Marquette University women's lacrosse seniors Meg Bireley and Hanna Bodner are BIG EAST Attacker and Midfielder of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Bireley had four goals, one assist and one caused turnover in Marquette's win over UConn, 16-15. She became the first player in program history to score 200 career goals and record 250 career points. Bireley also leads the BIG EAST and is eighth in the country for goals per game this season with an average of 4.07.
Bodner had five goals, three draw controls and two caused turnovers in the win over the Huskies. This is the fourth week this season that Bodner has earned the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week honor.
Mary Velner earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the first time in her career. Velner tied her career-highs with three ground balls and three caused turnovers in the win over UConn.
Marquette returns to action on Saturday, April 19 at Georgetown in its BIG EAST regular season finale. The game will be broadcast on FS1 at 11 a.m. CT.
