INDIANAPOLIS – The Marquette University men's golf team will make its sixth NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship regional appearance and is headed to the Urbana Regional hosted by Illinois at Atkins Golf Club on May 12-14.
The Golden Eagles are the automatic qualifier out of the BIG EAST Conference claimed their sixth team conference championship on Monday, April 28 at Callawassie Island.
Marquette shot a 6-under 282 on Monday to finish the event with a 17-under 847, which is 11 strokes better than tournament runner-up Xavier (6-under). All five Marquette student-athletes finished in the top 13 of the overall standings, led by Patrick Adler and Johan Widal in a tie for fourth.
Marquette is ranked 45th in the Scoreboard College Golf Rankings and is led by a pair of seniors ranked in the top 150 individually in Patrick Adler (No. 127) and Max Lyons (137). MU's best finish in the Golfstat end-of-season rankings was No. 47 during the 2018-19 campaign.
The Golden Eagles won five team titles during 2024-25 and four this spring, including the Boilermaker Invitational at Ackerman Allen Golf Course in West Lafayette, Indiana to end the regular season on April 19-20. MU topped Illinois, Purdue, Notre Dame, Indiana and Michigan State, among others, at the event. MU has finished first or second in nine of its last 10 team events, dating back to a second-place finish on Sept. 29-30 in the Windon Memorial Classic at Conway Farms.
The other five sites slated to host NCAA Regional play are Amherst, Virginia (Liberty), Auburn, Alabama (Auburn), Bremerton, Washington (Washington), Reno, Nevada (Nevada), and Tallahassee, Florida (Florida State).
The Golden Eagles placed 10th out of 14 teams in their last NCAA Regional appearance in 2023 at Auburn University Club and were led by Lyons in a tie for 17th (2-over 218). MU's best team finish came in 2019 in Austin, Texas at the UT Golf Club where it placed eighth, led by Hunter Eichhorn in a tie for 28th individually.
