Vice Propels Golden Eagles To Win At Xavier
1/1/2026 2:43:00 PM | Women's Basketball
CINCINNATI – Behind a dominant performance from Halle Vice, Marquette picked up its third road victory of the year, winning 67-54 on Thursday afternoon over Xavier at the Cintas Center. Vice finished with 20 points and a career-high 19 rebounds.
Playing without top its top scorer in Skylar Forbes (illness), Marquette led by just four after opening period. The Golden Eagles deployed a suffocating defense to force five turnovers and turn them into 10 of their 13 points in the period.
MU began to settle during the second quarter. A 7-0 run in 90 seconds created breathing room as the lead ballooned to 23-13 with 5:28 on the clock. A missed Xavier jumper turned into a long outlet from Vice to Jordan Meulemans to force a timeout from the Musketeers.
The run continued up to 14 unanswered for Marquette. Xavier was held without a bucket for seven minutes in the period before scoring twice in the final two minutes. Lee Volker ended the half with a triple from the right corner to put MU up 33-17.
The halftime lead was enough for the Golden Eagles to see out the game despite committing 14 of its season-high 23 in the second half. MU held Xavier to just 1-of-10 from the field during the last five-and-a-half minutes of the game.
