Danny Olsen wins second indoor 200m BIG EAST Championship in program history.
"It was a terrific weekend, and I was really proud of how we competed. Danny had a historic weekend, setting new team records in every individual race he ran, and came home with his 2nd individual BIG EAST title. It was a fun weekend!" Director of Track and Field & Cross Country Bert Rogers said.
Danny Olsen delivered another outstanding day on the track, breaking two more school records and becoming Marquette's second-straight indoor BIG EAST champion in the 200 meters after Aaron Hughes won the 2025 title. Olsen won the event in 21.25 seconds, lowering his record from Friday, and earlier in the day finished second in the 400 meters in 47.14, also a school record. Frankie McGee added a seventh‑place finish in the 400 in 48.56 and took fifth in the 200 in 21.79.
Marquette scored three placements in the top seven of the men's heptathlon. Gus Kasun finished fifth with 4,949 points, recording personal bests in the 1,000 meters and across multiple events. Cole Donahe placed seventh with 4,417 points.
In the men's high jump, Russell Czerwinski earned a podium finish with a personal-best clearance of 2.01 meters to take third. Teammates John Pitta and Louis Hebson followed in sixth and seventh. Pitta later added a fifth‑place finish in the triple jump at 13.93 meters, with Drew Klopcic placing sixth.
The men's 4x400‑meter relay closed the meet with one of the top performances of the afternoon. The group of Blake Frea, McGee, Klopcic and Olsen ran 3:15.11, the second‑fastest time in program history, to finish fifth. In the 4x800‑meter relay, Ethan Aidoo, Patrick Clune, Will Allen and Charlie Richardson combined for an eighth‑place 7:42.92.
Freshman Dylan Riniker ran one of the day's top distance highlights, placing 12th in the men's 3,000 meters in 8:24.49, setting a Marquette freshman record. In the men's shot put, Charlie Smith led the Golden Eagles with a ninth‑place throw of 14.21 meters.
On the women's side, Haneefa Adam opened the day with a 10th‑place finish in the triple jump, landing at 10.94 meters. In the high jump, sophomore Sara Stout cleared 1.55 meters for ninth, and Libby McCarthy finished 13th at 1.50 meters. Marquette's relay teams added two more top‑10 finishes, as the 4x800‑meter group of Ava Thomas, Mia Nutile, Paige Haglund and Allie Opalka placed 10th in 9:50.49, and the 4x400‑meter squad of Kieran Petrie, Nonic Oelling, Izzy Kissane and Jaiden Dornaus finished eighth in 4:03.03.
