T&F Completes Productive Week at Drake Relays, UWW/Drake Alternative

Golden Eagles compete at famous blue track in Des Moines, have strong showing back home in Whitewater.
Marquette track and field competed across two meets during the week of April 22 to April 25, taking part in the 116th Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, and the Drake Alternative Meet on April 25 at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. The Golden Eagles recorded multiple personal records, all‑time program marks, top‑five finishes and event victories across both competitions.
Marquette opened the week with four days of competition at the Drake Relays, facing national‑level fields across relay events, combined events, hurdles and distance races.
On the women's side, the 4x400‑meter relay of Marley Stoller, Nonic Oelling, Kieran Petrie and Daylee Braden finished sixth with a time of 3:48.00, a mark that ranks No. 10 all time in Marquette history. The women's sprint medley relay of Oelling, Sanai Baker, Stoller and Braden placed seventh in 3:56.23, which stands as the No. 2 all‑time performance for the program. The shuttle hurdles relay of Olivia Verden, Sylvia Fochesato, Makena Coltoff and Natalie Lupa recorded a time of 1:05.72, also ranking No. 2 all time.
In the heptathlon, Libby McCarthy placed 10th overall with a personal‑record score of 4,299. McCarthy recorded personal records in the 100‑meter hurdles at 16.17, the 200 meters in 26.47 and the 800 meters in 2:29.33.
In the field events, Tessa Hollander placed seventh in the javelin, while Riley Ward finished 11th.
On the men's side, Dylan Riniker placed sixth in the 10,000 meters with a personal‑record time of 30:19.21, a mark that ranks No. 9 all time in Marquette history. Andrew Klopcic earned a third‑place finish in the 400‑meter hurdles with a time of 53.60.
Marquette relay squads also produced historic results on the men's side. The 4x200‑meter relay of Frankie McGee, Bobby King, Klopcic and Thomas Zambianchi finished sixth in 1:26.31, which ranks No. 2 all time at Marquette. The sprint medley relay of Justin Juniel, Zambianchi, Alika Lugo and Patrick Clune placed sixth in 3:24.89, ranking No. 7 all time. The men's 4x1600‑meter relay of Patrick Clune, Nicholas Parrell, Edgar Valles and Jack Chadwick finished 12th overall.
In the decathlon, Gus Kasun placed fifth overall and recorded a first‑place finish in the 1,500 meters. Cole Donahe finished eighth with a personal‑record total of 6,400 points, ranking No. 7 all time at Marquette, while Henrik Rosario placed ninth with a personal‑record score of 6,351, ranking No. 8 all time.
Marquette concluded the week at the UWW/Drake Alternative Meet with multiple podium finishes and an event victory.
On the women's side, Ally Broaddus won the discus with a throw of 44.50 meters. Megan White placed third in the hammer with a personal‑record mark of 48.43 meters, while Broaddus finished fifth in the event. Allie Opalka placed second in the 3,000‑meter steeplechase with a personal‑record time of 12:36.87.
In the distance events, Mia Nutile placed third in the 1,500 meters with a personal‑record time of 4:52.39, while Taya Gummerson finished third in the 5,000 meters with a personal‑record mark of 18:42.91. In the field events, Kaitlyn Huebner placed third in the pole vault, while Alexis Boyer recorded a personal record.
On the men's side, John Pitta placed second in the triple jump. Charlie Dutmer finished fifth in the 400‑meter hurdles. Josh Pirogovsky placed fifth in the shot put with a personal‑record throw of 15.07 meters and also recorded a personal record in the discus. Additional personal records were recorded by Sebastian Kubas in the hammer, Jude Anderson in the high jump and Gabriel Thiel in the 100 meters.
