A former pole vault standout at Marquette, Zach Pawlowski works with the pole vaulters as an assistant coach. He began coaching at MU in 2007 after an excellent career competing for the Golden Eagles from 2003-07.
During his 12 years at MU, Pawlowski has coached 12 BIG EAST Pole Vault Champions and 68 All-BIG EAST honorees. He helped Carrie Schmid (2005-10) end her career as the Marquette school-record holder in both in the indoor and outdoor pole vault. She also qualified for NCAA Regionals under his watch.
Pawlowski helped freshman Joel Swanberg break the Marquette men's freshman record in 2014 with a height of 4.75 meters (15 feet, 7 inches) and capture the BIG EAST outdoor crown in the event.
During the 2011 indoor season, Pawlowski watched Lauren Darnall shatter the indoor school record in the pole vault and helped Nick Van Deraa break his outdoor program record in 2009
In 2008, Pawlowski helped former walk-on Carrie Schmid set the outdoor school record in the pole vault and finish third in the BIG EAST Conference Outdoor Championships. Van Deraa also placed in the top 10 at the BIG EAST Championships.
At the completion of his collegiate career, Pawlowski held all four Marquette pole vault records (two varsity and two freshman) and the freshman heptathlon record. He earned one one All-BIG EAST and two All-Conference USA honors in the pole vault during his collegiate career. He also competed in hurdles and multis during his time at MU.
Pawlowski graduated with a bachelor's degree from Marquette in 2007 and earned a graduate degree as a doctor of physical therapy in 2009.
Originally from New Lenox, Ilinois, Pawlowski now lives with his wife, Lauren, and daughters Lexi and Macy, in Franklin, Wisconsin.
