In 2012, the Golden Eagles made their first NCAA tournament appearance since 1997 while winning a program-record 16 matches. They followed that up in 2013 with another NCAA appearance and the program's first BIG EAST tournament title, while Lyon was named to the all-tournament team.
Lyon, also an MLS draftee, remains Marquette's all-time leader in shutouts and goals against average and was Marquette's McCahill Award winner in 2015. Lyon was a two-time CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American.
