Men's Cross Country Makes Annual Trip To Parkside Invitational

UP NEXT Dave Uhrich?s Marquette men?s cross country team returns to Kenosha, Wis., this Saturday, Oct. 16, for UW-Parkside?s 12th-annual Parkside Invitational. The men?s race gets underway at 1:45 p.m. (CT).
LAST WEEK The Marquette men's cross country team turned in another solid performance on Sat., Oct. 9, earning fifth place at the University of Maine?s Murray Keatinge Invitational. Nationally-ranked Michigan captured the team title for the third straight year, collecting 22 points, followed by New Hampshire, Purdue and Ball State. Marquette tallied 128 points, finishing easily ahead of sixth-place Maine (159 points).
Junior captain Joe Herington paced the Golden Eagles, finishing the 8K race in 15th place with a time of 25:06. Sophomore Luke Kunze also had an impressive performance, finishing the race in 25:30, good for 26th place. With a time of 25:39, Dave Lance finished at the front of a pack of Marquette runners who took the 28th-32nd places.
Michigan runners earned the top three spots, and six of the top 11, in the individual race. When Wolverine Jay Cantin crossed the finish line in a time of 24:21.16, just ahead of teammates Steve Lawrence (24:21.48) and Mike Wisniewski (24:21.80), it marked the fourth consecutive year that a Michigan runner had taken the individual title at the MKI.
