Men's Cross Country Prepares For Great Lakes Championship

UP NEXT Dave Uhrich?s Marquette men?s cross country team has this weekend off as it prepares for the NCAA Great Lakes Region Championship in Terre Haute, Ind., on Sat., Nov. 13.
LAST WEEK The Marquette men placed sixth at the 1999 C-USA Championship Meet on Sat., Oct. 30, in Charlotte, N.C. The top three finishers for the Golden Eagles came across the line within one minute to lead the team to its finish.
Junior Joe Herington (Westerville, Ohio / Westerville South) led Marquette, finishing 16th with a time of 24:58. He was followed by junior Matt Dunlavy (Elida, Ohio / Lima Central Catholic) and sophomore David Lance (Bellevue, Wash. / Newport), who finished 19th and 30th, respectively.
The C-USA individual title was claimed by Paul Kemei of Southern Miss, who finished the 8K course in a time of 24:01.0. He was followed by teammate Yousri El Mejdoubi (24:01.5) and UNC Charlotte?s Kenneth Svendsen (24:02.3).
Marquette finished sixth in the team scoring, seven points short of fifth-place Tulane. The Golden Eagles finished with 152 points. Southern Miss boasted three runners in the top five and finished first with 43 points. The southern Golden Eagles were followed by South Florida (58 points) and UNC Charlotte (70).
