Men's Cross Country Opens 1999 With Strong Showing

VALPARAISO, Ind.
The Marquette men's cross country team opened its 1999 season by placing fourth at the Valparaiso Crusader Open this morning. Notre Dame took the race's title with 26 points, while Purdue (72 points) and Western Michigan (77 points) edged the Golden Eagles, who finished with 81 points.
Sophomore David Lance led the way for Marquette, taking fifth place with a time of 25:22. Junior Matt Dunlavy placed 10th with a 25:48 finish. Notre Dame's Marc Striowski took the individual title with a time of 24:48.
