Women's Cross Country Wins Opening Meet Of ?99

VALPARAISO, Ind.
The Marquette women's cross country team opened its 1999 season by taking the title of the Valparaiso Crusader Open this morning. The Golden Eagles placed seven runners among the Top 10 and finished 19 points ahead of their neareast competition.
In taking first, the Golden Eagles also upset #23 Notre Dame, which held out its top two runners to prepare for future meets. Sophomore Jessie Swan paced the Golden Eagles, finishing second in a time of 18:05. Marquette's Erika Jacobson, Susan Barth and Sarah McCullough came in just after Swan, placing third, fourth and fifth, respectively, while Jackie Swan, Anne Schneider and Lezlye Moran also all placed in the Top 10. With a time of 18:00, Notre Dame's Jennifer Hanley took the individual title.
